Dance With the Desert is a cooperative research and interdisciplinary exhibition project with students of Peter Behrens School of Arts Duesseldorf, UE Berlin and Bezalel University of Arts and Design Jerusalem on the occasion of the anniversary 1700 years of Jewish life in Germany with encounters and program in all three cities and a concluding symposium in Berlin.
In addition to the joint project—the cultural exchange and an interview project on Jewish life and culture—the participants contributed own projects from their area of interest.
"My board would be pink"
My board would be pink: Israeli Skate Girls is a journalistic and photo-documentary project about two Israelis in the skate scene in Israel. The photographs are accompanied by an interview that addresses the protagonists personal experiences as female skaters in a community that is still dominated by male members.
Dance with the Desert was supervised by Prof. Anja Vormann, Prof Katharina Mayer and Hadas Satt. It was supported by the onomato Artist Association Düsseldorf.
The contributed projects were published in a catalogue alongside reflections on the cultural exchange and documentary photography of the travel.
