Die beste aller Welten / Die Kirmes
In this photo series, the scenery of the fair becomes a deliberately artificial objectification of the supposedly desirable glamour of capitalism. On the surface, everything seems to glitter and shine, but upon closer inspection, the carpet is porous, the paint is peeling, and the supports suffer under the weight of the colorful, over-the-top sculptures that seek to captivate visitors.
What makes life worth living in an artificial, fake world is friendship, love, solidarity and empathy. Misanthropy and cynicism can be paralyzing, and distraction to breathe a sigh of relief must be okay. Even with a bitter aftertaste every now and then.
